Equity Matters
Students from low-income families and communities of color often have a hard time getting to school. They face issues like not having enough healthcare, violence in their community, transportation that isn’t reliable, and not having a stable place to live. These problems can lead to missing school a lot, known as chronic absenteeism. Because of these challenges, it’s less likely for these students to finish high school.[,]
