To address violence in schools, some schools have school resource officers (often armed police officers). If implemented, these programs should:
- Reflect each school’s specific needs
- Not replace guidance counselors or advisors
- Avoid unfair discipline
- Be assessed regularly to see if they are working as intended
Otherwise, these programs can feed back into the cycle of violence and oppression.
